Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
January 24--10:15 a.m. A woman said that her ex-husband had been committing fraud by writing checks on closed bank accounts; an officer investigated. 3:34 p.m. A Greenwood Road resident said someone had let air out of tires during the night and requested more patrols of the area.
January 25--11:43 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an Elochoman Valley youth inured in a fall. 12:05 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a care center resident who was unconscious. 5:25 p.m. A caller reported people were tearing metal off walls of the old shake mill on Barr Road and burning debris there; an officer investigated and arrested a man. 7:37 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported harassment over the telephone. 9:39 p.m. An officer and mental health professional were dispatched to contact a person who was suicidal.
January 26--10:13 a.m. A Naselle resident reported that boys from Wahkiakum County were harassing her daughter over the phone.3 p.m. A caller reported a case of child sexual abuse; an officer investigated. 8:26 p.m. A caller said two men in a old Blazer keep driving around the Elochoman Slough Marina and were now parked by the office; a deputy was advised. 10:04 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale man losing consciousness.
January 27--9:41 a.m. Wahkiakum School District employees reported that someone had damaged the school grounds and a gate during the night.
January 28--8:19 a.m. A motorist reported hitting an elk on SR 4 two miles east of Cathlamet; the state patrol was notified. 12:46 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported someone had tried to break into a residence during the night and that there had been someone outside his bedroom window at 5 a.m. 6:57 p.m. A motorist reported a collision with an elk on SR 4 at Alger Creek; the state patrol was advised.
January 29--9:36 a.m. A Grays River resident reported an lottery scam over the telephone; the caller's number was identified. 10:15 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported a problem with power to the residence. 11 a.m. A caller said duck hunters were firing toward a Steamboat Slough Road residence; an officer was unable to find anyone shooting in the area. 2:46 An officer responded to a residence to contact a woman who was reported to be suicidal. 2:48 p.m. A caller said two youths were firing small caliber rifles on Puget Island; a deputy made contact. 3:07 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported someone had stolen a mailbox during the night and that this has happened before.
January 30--9:27 a.m. A caller said duck hunters were firing toward a Steamboat Slough Road residence; an officer checked and said no one was shooting toward the house.
