Lifelong Cathlamet resident, Jonathan Phillip Murphy, 20, passed away January 15, 2011 in Hampton, Va. He was born in Longview on March 24, 1990. Jonathan graduated from Wahkiakum High School in 2008 and joined the Navy that same year.
He excelled in track and wrestling while in high school, competing at the state level in both. He loved the time when he was the Mule mascot, he loved making people laugh with his great sense of humor. He will be deeply missed.
Jonathan is survived by his parents Cathy and Kevin Murphy of Cathlamet; a son, Jonathan L. Murphy of Virginia; a brother, Christopher McGowan of Kelso; his grandmothers Luella Murphy of Edmonds, and Dorthy Johannes of Mount Lake Terrace as well as many people who loved him.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday at J.A. Wendt Elementary School.
