Wahkiakum County commissioners on Tuesday discussed a resolution to allow the president of the Wahkiakum County Fair Board to serve also as fair manager.
In the past, the county's resolution establishing the fair board prohibited the manager from being a fair board member, but fair officials had recently asked for the change.
Commissioner Blair Brady, the commission's representative on the fair board, said the current president, Becky Ledtke, served as manager for a while last year and has essentially been handling both manager and president duties very well.
He moved that the board adopt a proposed resolution amending the previous resolution.
"We understand she would recuse herself on personal issues that affected her," he said. "We can always rescind the resolution if we see the need."
"I need time to look this over; I just got it yesterday," Cothren said. "I want to talk to Prosecuting Attorney Dan Bigelow about it."
Brady withdrew his motion and said the issue could wait until the board's meeting next week.
