Francis V. Huerd

Cathlamet resident, Francis V. “Frank” Huerd, 68, passed away December 20, 2010 at Community Hospice. He was born January 30, 1942 in Yakima, to Ray and Esther (Voss) Huerd. On January 14, 1961 he married Evelyn Morris in Cathlamet; she survives him at home. Frank and Evelyn resided in Longview, Vancouver and Cathlamet over their 49 years of marriage.

Frank served in the U.S. Navy from 1959-1963. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He worked as a crane operator at Longview Booming for 25 years and drove a long haul freight truck for many years, traveling throughout most of the U.S .; retiring in October.

He enjoyed spending time with his family; especially the time he and Evelyn would go sailing on the Columbia River.

In addition to his wife, Evelyn; he is survived by his son, Damon Huerd of Kelso; his daughter, Yvonne Holloway of Beaverton, OR; his brother, Dennis Huerd and sisters, Kathleen Huard and Karen Oliver, all of Yakima, WA and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also blessed with his grandchildren, Tiffany and Destin Huerd and Courtney and Brooke Holloway and a great-grandson, Dane Huerd.

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, at Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park. Private interment will take place at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Ore. Memorial contributions may be made in Frank Huerd’s name to Community Hospice, P.O. Box 2067, Longview, WA 98632.
