Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
December 6--10:22 a.m. An officer made contact with a Puget Island woman who reported rounding up two stray dogs and then having an altercation with a woman who claimed them. 4:38 p.m. An Altoona-Pillar Rock Road woman reported straying dogs were causing problems with her animals; an officer was advised.
December 7--12:39 a.m. A Cathlamet resident said a man and woman on Spring Street were yelling at each other; they were gone when an officer arrived. 1:04 p.m. A Middle Valley resident reported someone had broken into a house and taken personal information. 10:11 p.m. A woman reported someone had smeared caulking on her car while it was parked in Cathlamet.
December 8--8:54 a.m. A Hill Drive resident requested extra patrol of the area because of burglaries and suspicious activity at night in the area. 12:38 p.m. An East Valley resident reported someone had kicked in the back door of a residence.
December 9--7:07 p.m. An officer arrested a driver three miles east of Cathlamet for driving while being intoxicated.
December 10--12:08 a.m. A Mental Health professional responded to a report that a woman was threatening suicide in the Westend. 1:03 p.m. A Hill Drive resident reported a man was banging on the windows and doors of the house; an officer responded.
December 11--2:19 a.m. A motorist reported large rocks on SR 4 near County Line Park; the state patrol and Department of Transportation were advised; a truck ran onto the rocks before they could be cleared. 1:07 p.m. An Oneida Road resident reported someone had prowled cars and a fifth wheel and caused lots of damage. 5:40 p.m. Officers and the Cathlamet ambulance and fire department responded to Puget Island where a vehicle had run off the highway and into a ditch; the driver was charged with driving while being intoxicated. 7:40 p.m. An officer responded to SR 409 and State Road on Puget Island where a vehicle had backed into another vehicle.
December 12--7:06 a.m. A flood warning was issued for the Grays River Valley; later in the morning water was reported running over roads near the Covered Bridge and over Salmon Creek Road. 12:46 p.m. A Fish and Wildlife agent requested deputies' help in locating two suspected poachers in an older turquoise and white jeep in the Naselle area. 12:56 p.m. Officers and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to an Elochoman Valley residence where a woman was threatening suicide.
