Dearmore names undersheriff

Wahkiakum County Sheriff-elect Jon Dearmore has announced whom he will appoint as his undersheriff.

"I'd like to officially introduce the new undersheriff of the Wahkiakum County Sheriff's Office," Dearmore announced Saturday in a posting on The Eagle's Facebook page.

"Mark Howie, a 21-year veteran of the Tukwila Police Department, will start his new assignment January 1, 2011."

Howie and his wife, Deborah, own property in Cathlamet, including Howie's Corner Coffee House.
