Men’s chorus set for church concert

His Praise Men’s Chorus of Portland. will be giving a free concert at the worship service of the Cathlamet Seventh-day Adventist Church this Saturday at 10:45 a.m. The community is invited.

“You will be warmly welcomed and blessed when you come,” said Pastor Ben Moor, minister of the Adventist Church. “We want everyone to come to this special event. The music will be inspirational and a real blessing to all who come,” he added. Those who come are also invited to stay for the fellowship dinner right after the service to meet the members of the men’s chorus.

His Praise Men’s Chorus is a group of about 30 men from Portland. and Vancouver who volunteer their time to practice and travel to various communities around the Northwest.

Their purpose is to present concerts in churches that usually are not able to book larger musical groups because of the cost. Directed by Finis Johnson, and accompanied by Carol Paulson, the group meets every Monday evening at 7 pm. to practice and pray together for the needs of others.

His Praise began under the leadership of Joedy Melashenko, who now ministers through the Quiet Hour radio and telecast program, and who was at the time an associate pastor at the Meadow Glade Adventist Church, in Battle Ground. Later, the chorus ventured into more complex music and began to travel more widely up and down the West Coast. Now they give two concerts on one weekend a month. This Saturday they will be performing at the Cathlamet Adventist Church at 10:45 a.m. and then they will perform again at the Woodland Adventist Church in the late afternoon.
