Rosburg, Washington resident Wallace L. “Wally” Smalley, 71, a life long resident of Wahkiakum county, died in Longview on November 3, 2010. The son of pioneer Wahkiakum county residents Daniel and Signe (Buhakka) Smalley, he was born in Cathlamet, Washington on October 26, 1939.
Wally was a 1957 graduate of Naselle High School and attended Lower Columbia College in Longview for two years. He was a 40 year employee of the Wahkiakum county road department.
Wally loved woodworking, commercial fishing and farming at his residence in the Eden Valley area of Rosburg. A loving and devoted husband and father, he enjoyed family gatherings and will be greatly missed by his family and numerous friends.
Wally is survived by his wife of 46 years Diana (McIntire); sons Ben Smalley of Grays River, WA and Ronald Smalley of Longview; sister Barbara Rose; brothers Arnold Smalley and Russell Smalley; and a grandson Adam Smalley who is serving our nation as a member of the U.S. Navy stationed in Afghanistan. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson Jerome Smalley.
Graveside service were held November 14, 2010 at Eden Valley Cemetery in Rosburg.
