Marnee Davis, receptionist for the Wahkiakum County Health Department has been awarded a statewide award for her work in the county's branch of the national Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program.
The program provides nutritional advice and aid for mothers and children from pregnancy through age five years.
"I would say this is one of the most important programs in this country for children," said Health and Human Services Director Judy Bright.
Davis has been working in the program and coordinating services for 13 years. Bright said Davis was recognized for her professionalism and effective service.
The award was presented recently at state convention and took Davis by surprise.
"It's really nice," she commented. "I really enjoy working with WIC."
Davis also helps schedule department clients in a variety of programs.
