Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
October 25--2:19 p.m. A Westend resident reported someone had hijacked their bank debit card number; an officer made contact. 5:49 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported a buck deer was in the caller's yard; the call was referred to the state Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW). 5:58 p.m. A motorist reported a person driving a red car was weaving eastbound on SR 4 and crashed into guard rails at the Abe Creek passing lanes; the vehicle became disabled, and responding officers arrested the driver, who said he had a possible diabetic reaction; the Cathlamet ambulance was also sent to the scene.
October 26--11:55 a.m. A Barr Road resident reported a theft of tools and other property. 12:24 p.m. Officers and the Cathlamet ambulance were sent to a two-car traffic accident on the Elochoman Valley Road; one driver left the scene before officers arrived. 5:02 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman with breathing trouble. 7:39 p.m. An East Sunny Sands resident reported a man was violating a court order. 10:12 p.m. An officer reported arresting a driver for driving under the influence on SR 4 near Cathlamet. 10:15 p.m. A caller reported a man was harassing a woman.
October 27--11:56 a.m. The county assessor's office reported a man had threatened to shoot an office staff member; officers investigated. 1:07 p.m. A caller said neighbors were disputing a property line and a fence one was trying to build. 4:57 p.m. A Bradley Mountain resident reported possible poaching activity; the call was relayed to WDFW.
October 28--11:37 A caller said people were harassing a Cathlamet woman. 12:37 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported someone had stuffed a dead raccoon in a mail box. 6:17 p.m. A caller said people in a green pickup with a canopy were trespassing. 9:16 p.m. A caller reported a car had run off Salmon Creek Road and rolled over; the Grays River ambulance was dispatched. 9:42 p.m. An officer pulled a vehicle over on SR 4 at Milepost 10; the driver and a passenger were wanted on arrest warrants and were arrested.
October 29--5:57 p.m. A Greenwood Road resident reported people in a blue truck were shooting deer from inside the vehicle; a second caller said the subjects shot a deer in a person's yard. WDFW officers set up a dummy on Bradley Mountain and arrested two people in the vehicle after they shot at it (see story elsewhere in this issue). 6:09 p.m. Pacific County officers reported Naselle residents were receiving sexually explicit phone calls from a Wahkiakum County residence; an officer investigated. 9:02 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid aperson with high blood sugar.
October 30--10:24 a.m. An East Valley resident reported a theft. 3:26 p.m. A Cathlamet woman reported finding a person hiding under her daughter's bed; the person left the residence; a deputy investigated. 10:14 p.m. A caller reported a vehicle had run into the ditch in Skamokawa; the driver said she was turning around.
October 31--2:23 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet woman who needed to be taken to a hospital. 5:06 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet man who needed to be taken to a hospital. 6:22 p.m. A caller said a person who was drunk was driving kids around Cathlamet for trick or treating; officers were advised.
