Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
My heart goes out to Lois Nelson and the loss she has endured due to her home fire. Fire is devastating not only to property but emotionally as well. I hope she was able to save some of her most personal items, as that seems to be what we miss most, in this type of a loss.
Brr! Nights are getting down there temperature wise, but the clear skies are gorgeous. I don’t remember so many nights in a row where you could see the stars so bright. The days have been pretty though, almost too warm in the afternoons.
We certainly appreciate Mother Nature working with us to start the rebuilding process on our home. Yes, it is finally beginning. The bottom floor is mostly framed in, the staircase to the second floor is up, and joists in over the downstairs rooms, but not quite ready for the roof so will probably end up covering with plywood and plastic in order to get through the rain coming this weekend.
Had a wonderful note from Becky Erickson, reminding me that her Dad, Johnny Kapron built our house and that her family also suffered from the loss of many old memories and some family history. We are basically rebuilding the same house, as Mr. Kapron put lots of thought into a great layout, with lots of special amenities that we really appreciated.

Do you have a favorite family recipe that you would like to share and at the same time do a very special favor to help someone out? The Alexander family is publishing a cookbook which includes local recipes in an effort to raise enough money to purchase a service dog for Kenzie, their daughter, who suffers from seizures. This dog can detect a seizure before it happens so would make life much more comfortable for Kenzie. Once the book is published it will be for sale.
If you would like to contribute one of your recipes you can do it online by going to typensave.com. Log in using your name, the group is: Kenzie and the password is: dog. More recipes are needed and if you prefer you can e-mail them to JLKSA4@centurylink.net.
Cash donations can be made to a special account in Kenzie’s name at the Bank of the Pacific. For more information contact James and Lorinda Alexander at 360 795-0575.
