To The Eagle:

It's election time, probably the most important in a long time for many reasons. National security, national debt, and direction of our nation, to name a few. Locally, taxes, land use and public safety.

I have little comment on national elections only to say that if the voters have not figured it out then we as a nation are truly in trouble.

Locally: 1. In public safety we have two candidates, one of whom is a lifelong public servant with over 20 years of experience. Then we have a candidate who has virtually no experience in law enforcement and making it painfully obvious by trying to make a big issue out of an incident in which the deputies had to deal with a large combative prisoner who was already in custody. Obviously, Mr. Norris has never had to try placing a combative prisoner into a cell or take him or her out of a cell, which is extremely difficult at best.

2. We have a commissioner's race where we have a Democrat who has proven he represents those who put him in office, is fiscally conservative and a property rights advocate and has proven it. Then we have a candidate who is a land use planning advocate. Anytime you have a land use planner deciding on how you use your property it is nothing short of zoning or telling you how you are going to sell, develop, build and use your property.

3. Now we have taxes. It is very simple. Are your taxes less than what they were at the peak of the market (2005-2006) or more?

Please vote.
