Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
October 4--8:10 a.m. Wahkiakum High School reported suspicions that a student is using drugs. 12:01 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet woman with heart trouble. 12:02 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Puget Island woman with stroke symptoms; the patient was transported by Life Flight helicopter. 3:23 p.m. A caller said a man and two boys were intimidating people with firearms; a deputy followed up. 11:58 p.m. A Rosedale resident said a man was running a chainsaw and causing a disturbance.
October 5--6:28 p.m. A caller reported a big lift truck had run into a student at Wahkiakum High School; an officer made contact. 6:29 p.m. An officer arrested a person for driving while his license was suspended and for drugs. 8:24 p.m. A motorist reported a crane had run off SR 4 at Milepost 44 and needed assistance.
October 6--2:20 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an East Sunny Sands man with abdominal pain. 7:37 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a person whose car had run off SR 4 at Milepost 41.
October 7--11:03 a.m. A motorist reported a traffic accident had occurred on Beaver Creek Road; officers and the Cathlamet ambulance responded. 11:52 a.m. A boater reported a boat had capsized near Pillar Rock; the Coast Guard was notified. 5:48 p.m. Grays River firemen responded to a chimney fire at a Salmon Creek Road residence.
October 8--1:33 a.m. A motorist reported another vehicle had run over a rock slide at Mile Post 40 on SR 4 and was now disabled; the state patrol was notified. 1:47 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident injured in a fall. 10:02 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported a child sexual assault; an officer investigated. 1:24 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid woman with very low blood pressure. 1:39 p.m. A caller reported someone had broken into the food bank on Broadway Street; nothing was taken. 4:29 p.m. Puget Island firemen responded to a fire in a kitchen at a North Welcome Slough Road residence. 9:05 p.m. The Coast Guard reported a boat was adrift near Crim's Island; the possible owner was identified and contacted. 11:18 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid Rosedale resident with breathing trouble.
October 9--3:08 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported someone was shining lights in a bedroom; an officer determined it was probably vehicle lights from a newspaper carrier. 4:15 a.m. A caller reported a silver vehicle was parked on the sidewalk on Main Street; a driver was charged with driving while being intoxicated. 11:34 a.m. A person reported a hit and run collision had occurred on Main Street. 12:30 p.m. Officers were called to assist a state Fish and Wildlife officer who was pursuing a person in the Elochoman Valley. 2:42 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale woman with chest pain. 6:23 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet man with symptoms of stroke.
October 10--2:44 p.m. A caller reported someone was being harassed at a Cathlamet business. 4:09 p.m. The sheriff's department patrol boat and ferry Wahkiakum responded to a report of a man falling off a sailboat near the Wauna mill; he was not found. Boats were still searching Tuesday.
