Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
September 20--8:58 p.m. A Barr Road resident reported a power outage that apparently caused the PUD water system pump to stop working; Wahkiakum PUD personnel responded. 11:33 p.m. A Cathlamet man reported being harassed by his estranged wife; a deputy was advised.
September 21--10:38 p.m. A caller reported a hit and run collision on Columbia Street; a vehicle mirror was destroyed and there was lots of debris on the street; a deputy investigated.
September22--4:45 a.m. A caller reported a strong odor like Propane gas along SR 4 near County Line Park; an officer investigated and determined the smell was a dead elk whose antlers may have been sawed off; the fish and wildlife police were notified. 6:53 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a Grays River woman having an asthma attack. 11:08 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an Elochoman Valley woman with abdominal pain. 11:38 a.m. An East Sunny Sands resident reported someone had stolen some wood. 4:13 p.m. A person reported being harassed by another store patron while shopping in Cathlamet. 7:10 p.m. After stopping a vehicle on Boege Road an officer arrested two people for possessing illegal drugs; the driver was also charged with driving while his license was suspended.
September 24--9:44 a.m. A Grays River resident said a neighbor had been burning garbage with plastic or tires with smoke that made the air difficult to breathe; a deputy investigated; the report was repeated at 4:15 p.m., and a deputy advised that there was no fire at the site. 10:59 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman with back pain. 2:31 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported three attempted break-ins during the previous week and that the caller's dog had scared off the perpetrators. 6:54 p.m. A caller said someone was cutting grass and dumping it on Cathlamet school property; a deputy was advised. 8:22 p.m. An East Valley resident reported an altercation involving a 12-year-old girl; officers were advised. 11:22 p.m. An Oak Point Road resident reported someone had broken into a house and stolen a pistol, a laptop and a welder.
September 25--6:31 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale man injured in a fall in a bath tub. 8:35 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman who was very ill and nauseous. 4:52 p.m. A caller reported a fire in a car parked along SR 4 near Cathlamet; the vehicle owner extinguished the blaze and refused aid from firemen. 5:59 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman who was very ill and needed transportation to a hospital.
September 26--2:10 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an Elochoman Valley woman with complications from an infection. 4:47 p.m. A caller reported a woman was threatening to take things from a house west of Skamokawa; the caller said he was going to house sit with a shot gun, and the dispatcher warned the caller to let law officers handle the situation. 8:57 p.m. A caller reported a tree had fallen across Beaver Creek Road just inside the county line; the county road department was notified.
