Fishermen's hand built cabin ruined by party

To The Eagle:

Let me introduce to you three retired fellas, their names are Dick, Joe and Norm. For many years they have been fishing spring chinook and summer steelhead off of Coffee Pot Island in the middle of the Columbia River. What a wonderful pastime to enjoy right off Puget Island. We met them several years ago and have become good fishing buddies.

Dick, Joe and Norm built a tree-room cabin to stay in while fishing season was on. They stayed weeks at a time. It took a lot of hard work and money to build. They just completed an outside room to get out of the rain and wind with two big picture windows. They enjoyed that only one fishing day and then the cabin was no more!

On August 21, a group of about 40 young people decided to have a party at the sandbar. No one had to drive drunk and the cops weren't around. Someone started a fire and I suppose it got out of control and the cabin burned to the ground. There is glass everywhere and what a mess to clean up.

What a shame that for one night of drinking, you ruined the fun of three retired fellas. They always said they didn't mind anyone using it, just keep it clean. They were devastated to say the least.

I think you should be held accountable. A public apology to Dick, Joe and Norm would be a good start.

Shame, shame on you. We can't even take our beloved dog out there, too much glass. Why did you have to wreck our fishing grounds? Go somewhere else to party.
