Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
July 26--6:55 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to an Eden Valley residence to aid a child injured by a falling lamp. 10:33 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale woman who was feeling very dizzy.
July 27--10:16 a.m. A North Welcome Slough Road resident reported a black dog was chasing deer, and no one knew who owned the dog. On July 29, the caller reported capturing the dog, which had been chasing animals again; the Humane Society was notified. 5:24 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a five-year-old girl injured in a fall from a window. 8:55 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a person bucked off a horse.
July 28--12:49 p.m. A caller reported a driver in a raised white pickup had been cutting cookies in Cathlamet and had headed up Greenwood Road. 6:51 a.m. A burglary was reported at the county's Rosburg Shop. 7:58 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale man with back pain. 7:12 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported being harassed.
July 29--12:40 p.m. A Grays River woman reported her house was on fire; Grays River, Naselle, Skamokawa and Cathlamet departments responded; see story elsewhere in this edition. 8:29 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported someone was on a roof, screaming, and throwing things off; an officer investigated.
July 30--12:13 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Fern Hill woman who needed to be transported for an IV treatment. 3:48 p.m. A Mill Road resident reported an attempted burglary. 6:40 p.m. A Deep River resident reported someone had broken into his shop and stolen items such as a chain saw, outboard motor and other items; a deputy is investigating. 10:56 p.m. A Cathlamet woman reported that people had gotten out of a silver SUV and pulled down a political sign in someone's yard; a deputy was advised. 11:50 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a Salmon Creek man with abdominal pain.
July 31--7:45 a.m. A caller reported a fire on the northwest corner of Puget Island; an investigation revealed it was a controlled burn that hadn't been reported. 8:43 a.m. A caller reported someone had left a sheep to die in a pasture in the Westend; a deputy investigated. 1:37 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet man who had fallen and possibly broken an arm. 6:16 p.m. A caller said a man was threatening a woman at a Cathlamet residence; an officer investigated. 10:56 p.m. A Jacobson Road resident reported coming home to find that someone had broken into the house and taken blank checks. 11:06 p.m. A caller reported young people were having a drinking party on Bradley Mountain; deputies investigated and found no signs of partiers.
August 1--2:19 a.m. A caller reported a driver was swerving all over SR 4 near Cathlamet; an officer stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver. 8:14 p.m. A caller complained about excessive noise at a party at a Rosedale residence; partiers had left by 8:30.
