Michael Douglas Brennan, 63, of Cathlamet died July 24 at home.
He was born July 19, 1947, in Huntington Park, Calif. to Katie and Joseph J. Brennan. He graduated from Bell Gardens High School and served in the Air Force from 1966-1970.
On September 6, 1969 he married Gerry Gessner. She survives him at home after 40 years of marriage.
He and Gerry moved to Cathlamet in 1973 where he worked at Durrah and Martin logging company. He worked for the Wahkiakum County PUD for 30 years, and retired in August of 2008. Mike was active in the Cathlamet Volunteer Fire Dept. for nearly 30 years.
In his community service career Mike taught classes in electricity at the high school, volunteered at the annual Chamber of Commerce crab and oyster feed and was also active in Ducks Unlimited, the Wahkiakum Wrestling Program, and many other local projects too numerous to mention.
Also surviving are his two children Sean and wife Becky, and Kellie and her fiancé Sean; brother Joseph and fiancée Martha; sister-in-law Christie and husband Ray Davis; brother-in-law Tim and his wife Doreen Gessner; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Katie and Joseph J. Brennan.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday at the J.A. Wendt multipurpose room, Cathlamet, WA 98612 at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. James Family Center, 1134 Columbia St. or Cathlamet Fire Dept., PO Box 142.
