Sheriff's Report - July 22, 2010

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

July 12--3:33 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported a neighbor's dog has been attacking the caller's puppies; a deputy made contact. 4:22 p.m. An Altoona-Pillar Rock Road resident said an elderly woman was dancing in the roadway and acting strangely; no one was around when an officer checked. 4:43 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported someone had taken a wallet and other items left in a vehicle. 6:12 p.m. A caller reported hearing gun shots from a gated housing area east of Cathlamet; a deputy investigated and found people shooting targets. 7:21 p.m. A motorist reported two young men and a young female were walking away from a gray Blazer that had gone in a ditch along an Elochoman Valley Road; officers investigated; no one was injured, but a person received a citation. 9:18 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman having heart trouble at a Beaver Creek Road residence.

July 13--12:26 a.m. A caller reported a case of child abuse involving a Wahkiakum resident; an officer investigated. 7:43 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an infant with breathing trouble at a Little Island residence. 4:43 p.m. A caller said young children were driving adult-size ATV's on Fern Hill Road; the ATV's weren't around when an officer arrived. 5:32 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet man with heart trouble. 9:29 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a woman in pain after a fall at an Altoona-Pillar Rock Road residence.

July 14--3:15 p.m. A Puget Island resident said an unattended fire has been burning two days along North Welcome Slough Road; an officer was advised. 4:08 p.m. A caller said 12 fencing panels were missing from a Little Island house that had been repossessed. 4:43 p.m. A caller reported a person had written two bad checks totalling over $100. 5:05 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet woman with abdominal pain. 9:16 p.m. A caller reported a female child had run away.

July 15--8:40 a.m. An East Valley resident reported a burglary. 2:19 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Skamokawa resident who had possibly broken a shoulder. 8:01 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a person injured in an ATV accident at the lower end of Kent's Bridge Road; a citation was also issued.

July 16--9:52 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an East Sunny Sands man who had collapsed. 12:42 p.m. A caller said someone was shooting guns near the fairgrounds; an officer made contact and talked about shooting safely. 2:37 p.m. A person reported being bitten by a Great Dane in the Elochoman Valley; an officer investigated. 4:50 p.m. A caller said teenagers were harassing a youth at the swimming pool. 7:38 p.m. A caller reported someone was harassing his wife; a deputy was advised. 8:41 p.m. A caller reported someone was tampering with a mail box on the Altoona-Pillar Rock Road.

July 17--12:19 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a dog had been barking all night and was causing a disturbance. 12:50 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported a burglary. 2:31 p.m. A caller reported being harassed at the Elochoman Slough Marina. 1:46 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Puget Island woman with an undisclosed problem. 2:45 p.m. Two vehicles collided on SR 4 east of Cathlamet; the Cathlamet ambulance responded. 3:17 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Puget Island man with chest pain. 6:47 p.m. A caller said an intoxicated person was refusing to leave a bar. 7:41 p.m. A Hill Drive resident reported two people were trespassing and staggering around the neighborhood; an officer investigated. 8:32 p.m. A caller at Skamokawa Vista Park reported a man had been drinking all day and had driven a vehicle into a camp table. 8:58 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet woman possibly having a stroke. 10:55 p.m. A caller reported a Chevy pickup had run off SR 409 and into a ditch on Puget Island. 11:35 p.m. People at the Elochoman Marina reported the person who had caused trouble earlier in the day was back and harassing other people; the man was gone when officers arrived.

July 18--1:59 a.m. A caller reported two groups of people were confronting each other on Una Street near the marina; the people had separated by the time an officer arrived. 4:02 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Bradley Mountain woman with chest pain. 10:07 p.m. A Clover Street resident reported people were lighting fireworks; the area was quiet when an officer arrived.
