Sheriff's Report - July 15, 2010

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

July 5--8:59 p.m. Cowlitz County requested Wahkiakum officers check a Cathlamet residence for a vehicle loaned by a Cowlitz man to a niece who hadn't returned it after four days; the vehicle wasn't at the residence.

July 6--12:04 a.m. After stopping a vehicle on SR 4 just west of Cathlamet, an officer arrested an occupant. 12:52 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Hillcrest Drive woman with chest pain. 2:19 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported being harassed. 10:59 a.m. A Greenwood Road resident reported a person had violated a restraining order. 12:11 p.m. A caller reported a man was harassing a person at an East Birnie Slough Road residence. 6:02 p.m. A motorist reported a vehicle was stuck in the sand at Hornstra's Beach and the owners were making arrangements to remove it. 10:38 p.m. Officers and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Bradley Mountain residence where a person was having a reaction to narcotics and behaving aggressively.

July 7--5:51 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a person had violated a restraining order; a subject was arrested. 7 p.m. A caller reported being harassed; a deputy was notified. 7:09 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to help a Hungry Highway man with an undisclosed problem. 10:50 p.m. Patrons of the Elochoman Slough Marina reported a person was playing music so loudly it was causing a disturbance.

July 8--3:43 a.m. The state patrol reported a motorist had rolled his vehicle on SR 4 at Milepost 42; the driver was uninjured. 5:51 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported a power outage; Wahkiakum PUD was notified. 2:36 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported a violation of a protection order, and an officer investigated. 3:28 p.m. A caller reported people were selling drugs; officers are investigating. 4:38 p.m. A North Welcome Slough resident reported a power outage; the PUD was notified.

July 9--3:58 p.m. An officer making a traffic stop discovered the vehicle and its license plates didn't match according to registration; the driver was arrested. 6:30 p.m. A caller said a relative was throwing the caller's belongings out of a Rosedale residence; an officer made contact. 7:02 p.m. The state Department of Ecology reported a wooden boat had sunk along a dock along Waranka Road; an officer checked and noticed an oil sheen; DOE will continue investigating. 7:16 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman injured in a fall at a Cathlamet residence.

July 10--4:01 a.m. A Columbia Street resident reported some people were loading a car onto a trailer and making lots of noise; they were gone when an officer arrived. 11:24 a.m. A Greenwood Road resident reported being harassed; an officer made contact. 12:36 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a man who fell off a ladder and injured a leg. 6:17 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a young boy having seizures.

July 11--1:17 a.m. People camped at Hornstra's Beach reported a man and woman in a Silverado pickup had rammed a car and fled the scene; an officer investigated. 8:13 a.m. A caller reported people were digging freshwater clams at Hornstra's Beach, a violation of state fish laws; a Fish and Wildlife agent was notified. 6:10 p.m. A Maki Road resident said someone had stolen a battery from a tractor parked in a field, causing damage to the tractor.
