Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
To The Eagle:
Recently, we have been treated to many letters to The Eagle focusing on projects that the Lower Columbia Economic Development Council and the Wahkiakum Chamber of Commerce have worked hard on and supported.
We are told by the writers that defeating these efforts is cause for joy. As one of the people who works very hard for our community, I challenge those who work so hard to stop projects to roll up their sleeves and find a way to get involved in helping the community.
It is not enough to simply sit at home and say, “I have got mine, so close the door behind me and let the others fend for themselves.” Where are the ideas, energy and work to help our community hold its own or even grow a little bit? So, those of you have nothing but criticism to heap on the organizations and individuals that work hard for our businesses and citizens, I ask: where are your solutions?
I would encourage The Eagle to adopt a policy that allows any individual writer no more than five letters to the editor per year. Hopefully this would reduce the amount of mud slinging and help us stop losing ground.
