Sheriff's Report - June 10-17

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past two weeks, including:

May 31--12:15 p.m. A man reported malicious mischief to a roof and said other things had been happening to his property on South Third Street. 5:52 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman with possible kidney failure. 9:05 p.m. Motorists reported a westbound vehicle was running people off SR 4 east of Cathlamet; the state patrol was notified.

June 1--7:04 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Hill Drive woman who was feeling very ill. 1:33 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported being threatened. 1:47 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Messinger Hill man with breathing trouble.

June 2--2:54 p.m. A Rosedale woman reported an attempted scam; a deputy investigated. 6:48 p.m. an officer reported taking a rifle and supply of ammunition for safekeeping. 9:26 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a man in a car on Main Street; an officer also arrived and made an arrest after investigating the circumstances.

June 3--10:50 a.m. A Puget Island resident complained that a construction crew had blocked a mail carrier's access to a mailbox. 1:29 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a West Sunny Sands woman who had lost consciousness. 1:35 p.m. A West Valley resident reported some nearby explosion had shaken the house; another caller reported hearing a noise like something had fallen. 8:48 p.m. A caller reported a possible brush fire with lots of black smoke up Fossil Creek Road; a Grays River fireman investigated and found someone was burning garbage.

June 4--4:45 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale man with a medical issue.

June 5--2:33 a.m. A motorist reported finding a vehicle rolled on its side near the intersection of SR 4 and West Valley Road; the Cathlamet ambulance was dispatched to aid the driver, Andrew J. Boonstra, 48, of Longview, who was out of the vehicle but complaining of chest and shoulder pain; officers investigated; the Washington State Patrol reported Boonstra's pickup failed to negotiate a turn; the report said a charge of driving while intoxicated is pending. 9 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Messinger Hill woman who was dizzy and having back pain.

June 6--9:05 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet man with breathing trouble and chest pain. 11:27 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet woman with breathing trouble. 1:32 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported trouble with juveniles trespassing on his property. 8:21 p.m. A Puget Island man reported being threatened by three dogs while walking on South Welcome Slough Road; the owner of the dogs was contacted.

June 7 -- 8:30 a.m. A caller reported an aggressive dog along Beaver Creek Road. 5:03 p.m. A caller reported a large sinkhole, about 12 inches wide and two feet deep had appeared on Steamboat Slough Road. The county road crew was advised.

June 8 -- 11:07 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an elderly female with breathing trouble. 4 p.m. A caller reported several dogs still at an abandoned Miller Point Rd. residence. 7:59 p.m. A possible violation of a court order was reported from the county jail. The case officer and a supervisor were advised.

June 9 -- 10:06 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman with a severe headache. 10:07 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a person who had been ill and was not answering the phone. An officer investigated and found the person had been taken to hospital in Portland. 11 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to the Family Health Center to aid a person with heart problems. 9:49 p.m. A Greenwood Rd. resident reported a burglary. A deputy responded.

June 10 --2:38 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to a car accident on the west side of KM mountain. 5:48 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a man who had pulled out his gastric tube. 9:40 a.m. A Cathlamet business reported someone had been cutting cookies in their driveway. 11:16 a.m. A caller reported a boat possibly aground at the east end of Puget Island. 5:22 p.m. A Fernhill Road resident reported a $20,000 phone fraud attempt.

June 11 -- 6:50 a.m. A caller reported an oily substance on the road between SR 4 and Main Street. The Department of Transportation was notified. 8:26 a.m. Officers and the Grays River ambulance responded to a one car accident on SR 4. 5:13 p.m. An officer reported stopping a vehicle on SR 4.One person was taken into custody.

June 12 -- 8:55 a.m. A caller reported a white Toyota partially blocking the road on Puget Island. An officer responded. 1:05 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a man who had fallen and was not fully responsive. 3:12 p.m. A Beaver Creek Road resident reported a gate on his property had been broken the night before. 9:26 p.m. A caller reported that someone was using his credit cards after he had lost his wallet.

June 13 -- 10:45 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an elderly woman with a head injury. 12:19 p.m. A Barr Road resident reported that a group of motorcycles had hit a dog and not stopped. 12:54 p.m. A Maki Road resident reported hearing people talking in her barn.
