Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
The third annual Smoky Water Follies will be held June 25-27, at the Skamokawa Grange hall in the Skamokawa National Historic District. Evening performances are at 7:30 p.m. and the Sunday matinee is at 2 p.m.
Set in the early 1900s, the show highlights music and comedy from the heyday of traveling vaudeville shows that brought entertainment to towns in rural America. Della and her traveling troupe of vaudevillians present three shows only, including the Can Can-Can Cannery Girls, A Fishy Tale melodrama, scenes from Svenson’s Tavern, and the return of the erudite Professor from Skamokawa University.
Directed by Adele Baker-Swift with musical direction by Sunrise Fletcher, the Follies is a major fund raiser for the Skamokawa Grange which still needs many amendments, but over the past six years the hall has been restored for public use by Skamokawa Grange members and volunteers from the community. All tickets are $10 and are available from the cast and from The Bank of the Pacific both in Cathlamet and in Naselle. Doors will open one half hour early.
