Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
The Finnish-American Folk Festival Committee is looking for people of all ages to share their “Mummu” or grandma stories during the Finnish-American Folk Festival from July 23-25 and will continue to accept them until June 20. The Committee is particularly interested in more “local” stories from Pacific, Wahkiakum and Clatsop Counties.
To make entries even more inclusive, grandmas ( Mummus) can submit their own stories or participants may enter a story about a woman who was like a grandma to them.
The stories are limited to 650 words or 5 minutes of audio or video recording. They may also be posted on YouTube.com or Vimeo.com or other hosting services. Notify the committee at finnam@wirkman.com.
Prizes will be awarded during the festival. The categories are by age: 12 and under, $25; 13-18, $50; and 18 and up, $75.
Mail them to the Finnish-American Folk Festival, ATTN: Sue, PO Box 156, Naselle, WA 98638. For more details, visit the festival website at http\\finnam.naselle.net.
