There will be one distribution day for Wahkiakum County eligible seniors to obtain vouchers to use at participating farmers’ markets.
The vouchers will be distributed at the Rosburg Community Hall on June 17 from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and also at the Cathlamet Congregational Church (on 3rd and Maple) from 10 a.m.-noon. Seniors are encouraged to come and get Senior Farmers’ Market Vouchers and to participate in the Senior Community Lunch which will be served at noon at both the Cathlamet site as well as Rosburg. The suggested donation to participate in the lunch is $2.50 and it is recommended to make reservations at 360-425-3430 x259 or 1-800-383-2101 x259.
Funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and administered locally by Lower Columbia CAP, the program returns to Wahkiakum County for a fourth year. The participating market in Wahkiakum County is the Two Islands Farm Market located at 59 W. Birnie Slough Road.
Eligible seniors for the vouchers are those individuals age 60 and older, or age 55 and older if Native American or Alaska Native Elder with a monthly income of $1,670 or less if single, and $2,246 or less in a two person household, and a resident of Washington State. Photo ID is required and vouchers will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.
Eligible seniors will receive $40 worth of vouchers that can be used to buy fresh fruits, vegetables and edible herbs at participating farmers’ markets.
