Candidates file for office

Candidates for local elected office started filing for election this week.

As of early Wednesday morning, filings included:

--County commissioner, District 3: Blair Brady, Democrat, incumbent; Lori Scott, Independent.

--Wahkiakum PUD commissioner, Dist. 3: Dennis R. Reid; Esther T. Gregg, incumbent. The position is non-partisan.

--Assessor: Sulema Zerr, Republican, incumbent; Bill Coons, Independent.

--Auditor: Diane Tischer, Democrat, incumbent.

--Treasurer: Paula Holloway, Democrat, incumbent.

--Clerk: Kay M. Holland, Democrat, incumbent.

--Prosecuting Attorney: Dan Bigelow, Democrat, incumbent.

--Sheriff: Jon Dearmore, Independent. Incumbent Dan Bardsley has announced he isn't seeking re-election.

--District Court Judge: William J. Faubion, incumbent, non-partisan.

Filing for Democrat precinct committee officer positions were Steven Puddicombe, Grays River precinct; Susan M. O'Connor, Skamokawa; Mike McAvoy, East Puget Island; Hans York, Elochoman, and Esther T. Gregg, Rosburg/Altoona.

Filing Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. for Republican precinct officer positions were Stan W. Storer, North Cathlamet; Wallace Karl Bingham, West Puget Island; Jerry O. Hogan, Columbia; John M. Hannah, South Cathlamet; Charles Parker, Skamokawa; Earl M. Johnson, Rosburg/Altoona; Sulema Zerr, Grays River; Ronald L. Estes, Deep River; Annette Riley, Rosedale; Claudia Rua, Elochoman, and Len Lindsley, East Puget Island.

Filing closes at 4 p.m. this Friday. There will be a special filing period next week for positions with no candidates.
