Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
May 17--10:16 a.m. Wahkiakum Fair officials reported a burglary occurred at the fairgrounds over the weekend. 5:15 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid Rosedale man with a burst blood vessel in his foot.
May 18--7:11 a.m. A Morgan Drive resident reported someone had broken into a car during the night and taken a purse and 90-day supply of a prescription drug; the belongings were later found thrown on the ground; a deputy investigated. 10:58 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a nursing home resident with a bleeding problem. 6:53 p.m. An officer investigated a report of drug use and probation violation and arrested a Greenwood Road man. 9:59 p.m. A woman reported her upset, possibly suicidal, daughter had left her residence; officers responded and contacted the girl.
May 19--4:55 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman who fell in a parking lot at Skamokawa Vista Park. 6:34 p.m. A caller reported seeing what looked like a small white boat sinking in the Columbia; the Coast Guard was notified; the craft was later identified as a jet ski hulk that has been drifting in the water a long time; the Coast Guard was notified and cancelled its helicopter response. 7:56 p.m. A deputy investigated a reported problem with a juvenile. 7:58 p.m. Deep River residents reported power was out and a line was down along East Deep River Dike Road; Wahkiakum PUD was notified.
May 20--4:17 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a burglary. 6:06 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a nursing home resident with cardiac problems.
May 21--12:19 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a domestic assault at a West Valley residence; the Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a female victim; a male suspect left the area but was arrested May 24. 12:34 p.m. Wahkiakum High School reported a student had a marijuana pipe and had been using it; an officer investigated and took the youth into custody. 7:12 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to transport a Beaver Creek Road resident to a hospital. 7:15 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to transport a Westend woman who was very ill to a hospital.
May 22--4:32 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Messinger Hill woman injured in a fall. 7:51 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported seeing a person apparently going through a mail box.
May 23--12:08 p.m. A Little Island resident reported arcing came from equipment on a power pole and then power went out; the PUD was notified. 3:03 p.m. A caller reported someone had backed into a vehicle in a Rosedale parking lot and left; an officer investigated and found that the driver had left contact information. 6:36 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a nursing home resident who was very ill. 7:36 p.m. Skamokawa responders and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a man at the fairgrounds who was feeling very dizzy. 9:23 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Little Island man who was very ill. 9:40 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale man with cardiac problems. 10:51 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a person was peeping in a window; an officer was advised.
