Fashion and fun at Rosburg Hall Sunday

I hope everyone enjoyed the couple of days of sunshine we had last weekend, and that all the Moms had a wonderful day on Sunday. I had a wonderful weekend with some of our family in Oregon. The weather wasn’t the greatest but the company was.

The weatherman says we may have some nice days this week, so I’m hoping to get the lawn mowed before it’s tall enough to make into hay.

News from Naselle:

The school year is winding down for this year with a little more than a month to go. Lots of last minute activities for many of our students, especially our seniors. We should be proud of all our kids in this community, and commend them on another year well done.

There will be a school board meeting on Tuesday, the 11th at 7 p.m. These meetings are open to the public and you are encouraged to attend. Our kids are important and by knowing what is going on at the school, we can be much more prepared.

Other news from the Westend:

This is it! The 26th Annual White Tail Run will take place on Saturday. Get on the running shoes, and head on out to the Julia Butler Hansen National Wildlife Refuge in Skamokawa. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the race starts at 10 a.m. for the 10K, 5K and 2-mile courses.

The event is an annual fundraiser for our local 4-H programs and the proceeds benefit our local kids. For more information, call 360 465-2275 or 360 795-3278.

Check out the Grays River Friendship Circle’s annual spring tea and luncheon on Sunday at Rosburg Hall in Rosburg. This tea is always a fun event and the proceeds from this year’s program will be used to develop a Community Prayer and Healing Garden at the Grays River United Methodist Church.

The theme for this year’s tea and luncheon is “Fashion and Fun” and as a special treat, the Maddox School Dancers from Warrenton, Ore. will perform for your pleasure. You can also enjoy a fashion show and display of vintage fashions.

The suggested donation of $8 will entitle you to a wonderful afternoon of fun and entertainment. There will also be a Pick Your Own Prize raffle if you have a winning $1 ticket.

Doors open at noon. Lunch will consist of tea sandwiches, savories and desserts, and will be served at 12:30 p.m., followed by the program. Everyone is welcome.

For more information call (360) 465-2740 or (360) 484-7749.

I’m sure the readers have followed the progress of the Grays River Valley Library from the beginning, and hopefully many of you have taken the opportunity to get your free library card and check it out. I also hope you have taken the opportunity to meet and talk to our pretty much full time librarian Jim Monteith. Without Jim, our library would still be a work in progress as he was the one who did all the final work to get us where we are today. He has spent many, many volunteer hours, and put much effort into this project.

On Saturday, the 15th, I would like to invite everyone to stop in at our library at Johnson Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and wish Jim a very happy birthday. Enjoy a piece of birthday cake with him and let him know how much he is appreciated.

Happy Birthday, Jim!
