Sheriff's Report - May 13, 2010

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

May 3--8:55 a.m. A West Valley resident reported someone had smashed out a window in a truck during the night. 11:04 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported someone had stolen ladder fittings off a boat. 4:44 p.m. Middle Valley residents reported a wind fallen tree knocked out the power line; Wahkiakum PUD was notified. 9:45 p.m. A motorist reported a traffic accident with unknown injuries at Milepost 43 on SR 4; officers and the Cathlamet ambulance responded; no one was around when they arrived.

May 4--8:58 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported a boy had run away the previous evening. 9:20 a.m. A Rosedale resident reported someone had broken into her car the previous night, and that this has happened before. 12:54 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a theft of tools valued over $1,000. 2:20 p.m. Skamokawa residents reported someone burglarized the Skamokawa Grange, taking a popcorn popper, and the food bank at the fairgrounds, taking popcorn and pop. 9:49 p.m. A caller said an arc welder had been stolen from a Middle Valley residence.

May 5--2:51 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 25-year-old man experiencing numbness on the side of his face and body. 2:18 p.m. A Puget Island resident said there was a black truck parked in the oncoming traffic lane and it appeared there was a rifle pointed out the back toward a field; a deputy was advised.

May 6--5:11 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a Barr Road man with breathing trouble. 4:15 p.m. An officer reported taking a driver into custody for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol on SR 4 east of Cathlamet.

May 7--3:35 a.m. A caller reported seeing two very skinny horses in a field near Cathlamet. 7:17 p.m. Altoona-Pillar Rock Road residents reported a power outage; the PUD responded and found that a transformer had malfunctioned. 9:54 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a Covered Bridge Road woman with chest pain.

May 8--12:18 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported hearing fireworks or gunshots. 9:28 a.m. A caller reported possible destruction of property by two juveniles at the Wahkiakum High School batting cages.

May 9--12:02 p.m. A Middle Valley woman reported the neighbor's rottweiller chases her when she goes outside her house; an officer made contact. 11:28 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman who was very ill.
