Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
April12--9:04 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported someone had stolen a .22 rifle and some fishing gear. 1:05 p.m. A motorist reported a one-car, non-injury accident on Salme Hill; the state patrol was advised. 4:13 p.m. A caller reported a man with white hair was lying on SR 4 at Fossil Creek; an officer made contact and contacted Human Services. 6:54 p.m. A caller reported someone has been stealing gasoline from neighbors in an area outside Cathlamet for the past week; a deputy made patrols. 9:34 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman who was fainting.
April 13--6:05 p.m. A deputy sheriff reported he had tried to stop a vehicle westbound on SR 4 near Skamokawa, and the vehicle had tried to elude him; other officers joined the chase, and the driver, whose license was suspended, was arrested.
April 14--12:53 p.m. A caller reported someone had just dumped garbage off a bridge in Skamokawa; a deputy investigated. 2:49 p.m. A caller reported a case of child abuse at a location outside Washington; the report was relayed to an appropriate agency. 11:39 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale woman who had a shoulder fracture and was feeling very ill.
April 15--The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an Oak Point Road woman who was unconscious. 1:17 p.m. At the request of the US Border Patrol, an officer checked a Westend residence for a green van; it wasn't in the area. 1:55 p.m. An officer investigated a report of illegal drugs in a Cathlamet school. 6:40 p.m. An Elochoman Valley man reported another man had taken logging equipment without permission.
April 16--5 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Puget Island woman with high blood pressure. 10:01 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale woman having chest pain. 12:45 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a trespass.
April 17--11:29 a.m. An East Valley resident reported a burglary. 11:29 a.m. Anglers on a boat above White's Island said people in another boat were fishing on top of their lines; the call was referred to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. 11:40 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an Elochoman Valley man with breathing trouble. 3:48 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a teenage male with a cut on his head. 4:43 p.m. A caller reported a person with a suspended license was driving a vehicle on SR 4 westbound from County Line Park; an officer investigated and saw someone else driving the vehicle.
April 18--1:33 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet woman who was pregnant. 11:14 a.m. A Lassila Road resident reported a theft of tools and a water heater. 2:49 p.m. A caller reported unpleasant black smoke coming from a garbage fire in the Westend. 6:37 p.m. A caller said young people were throwing objects on vehicles along Main Street; an officer contacted the youths.
