Grange News

April has been proclaimed as Grange Month. “Now is the time for Granges to welcome new members, share benefits and advantages that Grange membership offers to everyone” states National Grange President, Ed Luttrell.

In honor of Grange Month, Grays River Grange will host Grange Booster Night on April 27, beginning at 6:30 p.m., at the Grange Hall. Members having 25, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, and 75 years of Grange membership will be recognized. This is also a time to come and learn about the Grange and what Grays River Grange members have done throughout the year. New members are always welcomed and encouraged to join the Grange.

Members that will be recognized for their many years of membership are:

50 Year Member: Nora Lee McCulley, Bobby Miller, James Schlesser.

55 Year Member: Mrytle Anderson, Merlin Durrah, Ray Prestegard.

60 Year Member: Donald Raistakka, Stanley Sorenson.

65 Year Member: Cora Irving, Tom Irving, Robert Larson, Gordon Oman.

75 Year Member: Norman Anderson – That’s a lot of years.

Grange Booster Night will begin at 6:30 p.m. The potluck dinner will feature BBQ hamburgers. If you are planning on attending, please leave a message at 360-465-2268 to assure there are enough burgers for everyone. It will be a casual evening; a time to meet and greet your neighbors.

Grays River Grange, as an eligible entity, will vote in the April 27 election for the board of the Grays River Habitat Enhancement District (GRHED). The Grange, as a property owner in the district, has a civic duty to participate in the election. At issue, within the group, were the rules of our order that prohibit the Grange from endorsing any candidates. Grangers decided to conduct voting within the organization in a way that would respect the prohibition. There will be a Grange poll for members set up in the hall. Polling time is from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on the 27th which is coincidentally, the same night as Booster Night. Members in good standing may vote in this election. Stop by, have a burger, visit, and vote in our election. One stop shopping. If you would like additional information regarding voting in the GRHED election visit http://www.graysriver.grange.wahkiakum.info.

Grays River Grange meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. Locavore Potluck Dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. followed by a Business Meeting at 7:30 p.m.
