Sgt. awarded Army Commendation Medal

Army Sgt. Geoffrey M. Goodman has been decorated with the Army Commendation Medal.

The medal is awarded to individuals who, while serving in any capacity with the Army, have distinguished themselves by acts of heroism, meritorious achievement or meritorious service.

Goodman, a heating and air conditioning equipment repairman, is assigned to the 1st Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, at Fort Hood, Killeen, Texas. The sergeant has served in the military for eight years.

He is the son of Jerry C. Goodman of Eugene, Ore., and Lauretta L. Stuart of Cathlamet.

The sergeant is a 1987 graduate of South Eugene High School.
