Woodland resident Arthur L. “Art” Carr, 60, passed April 8, 2010 at the U.S. Veterans Hospital in Portland, surrounded by loving family and friends.
Art was born in The Dalles, Oregon on May 6, 1949, the son of Jerry and Lois (Gore) Carr. He grew up in the Portland area and in 1967 enlisted in the United States Army 173rd Airborne Division. He served two tours of duty in Viet Nam.
Returning to Washington State he married Betty Edwards on May 13, 1978. To this union were born two sons, Staff Sergeant Robert Walter Carr, currently serving in the United States Air Force, and Arthur Lynn Carr Jr. (wife Kayleigh).
Art enjoyed family time outdoors, camping, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Woodland.
In addition to his wife and two sons Art is survived by his sisters Bonnie (Tom) Thedds, Ina (Xavier) Sunica, Janet (Skeeter) Pose, Julie (Dan) Strickland, and Diana (Daroll) Howlett. Also surviving are step-brothers Kelly (Sue) Feldman, Corey (April) Feldman and Linden (Sandy) Feldman; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Graveside service was held Wednesday, April 14, 2010, noon at Peaceful Hill Cemetery in Naselle, Washington with full military honors. Art’s guestbook is available at http://www.penttilaschapel.com.
