Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
We are still collecting items this week for the April 10-11 4-H and Fair Rummage Sale. The tables in the youth building at the fairgrounds are getting covered with good, useable items. We have a very nice love seat, books, clothing, glassware, desks and lots of other treasures! Need to plant a couple acres of bare ground or plant a property boundary line? We have Douglas Fir trees, 120 trees to a bag, ready to plant, rainy weather is perfect for planting these nice trees. The sale will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday. If you can’t find something to donate, please stop by and purchase something! All proceeds benefit our local 4-H Clubs and the Wahkiakum County Fair.
The fair board would like to say thank you to the many people who braved the weather and attended our Easter bingo last Friday. It was a fun night and we had some nice prizes to win. We would like to recognize the following people and businesses for their generous donations to this event: Dixie Anderson, Martha Backman, Mike Mouliot, Lisa Frink (Scentsy), Simply Massage, Riverview Restaurant, Heavy Stone Jewelry, Mr. Mann at the Shell Station, Lower Columbia Realty, Skyline Golf Course, Cathlamet Chevron, Duck Inn, Stanley’s Sanitary Service, Foster Farms, Hancock Forest Management, Cathlamet Video Store, Athletic Club, Gunnar’s, Manthe Equipment, The Brits on Commerce, Cowlitz River Rigging, Things with Bling, Sizzler, Ken’s Engraving, Rustics by Reece, Daria Lacy (beautiful handcrafted Easter eggs), and a really nice waitress named Linda from the Riverview. Thank you for helping to make this Wahkiakum County Fair Board fund raiser a success!
It’s time to hire a manager for the Wahkiakum County Fair! This is a position that will put you right in the middle of all the excitement that happens before and at fair. If you like to work with many volunteers and are committed to creating a wonderful fair each year, please apply! I have enjoyed my time as interim manager for the past few months and learned a lot from the ladies at the courthouse. I am not applying for the position, but will help the new manager settle into the job. I will be busy in the T-building decorating and displaying your exhibits as usual during fair.
The next Wahkiakum County Fair Board meeting is April 14, 7 p.m., 3rd floor courthouse meeting room. The public is always welcome to attend.
The fair office is open by appointment only. If you need to gain access to the fairgrounds contact Becky at 360-795-3434. You can call 360-795-3480 and leave a message on the fairgrounds answering machine also.
