DOE sets hearing on biosolid plan

A public hearing has been scheduled for May 3, 6 p.m., at the Rosburg Hall on the permit application to dispose biosolids on a Grays River farm.

Evergreen Septic of Long Beach has applied for coverage under the Statewide General Permit for Biosolids Management of the state Department of Ecology.

Evergreen proposes to treat human biosolids with lime at a site in Seaview and dispose them at a site located near 118 Covered Bridge Road, Grays River.

According to Evergreen's public notice published in the notice section of this issue, the application contains a plan for the Grays River site and a general land application plan which describes how the firm will identify future additional sites.

Public testimony will be accepted at the May 3 hearing, and written and oral testimony will be accepted during the hearing. Written testimony will be accepted up to the date of the hearing if it is identified as testimony offered for the hearing.

Copies of the permit application are available through the Department of Ecology and through Evergreen Septic.

Time permitting, a public meeting allowing questions and answers will follow the formal hearing.
