Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
March 8--2:08 p.m. A caller reported animal abuse at an East Birnie Slough Road address; a deputy was notified. 6:20 p.m. Wahkiakum Search and Rescue was dispatched to Skamania County to join in the search for a missing female hiker; private citizens found the victim over the weekend. 6:29 p.m. Skamokawa firemen responded to a chimney fire at a Vaughn Road residence.
March 9--10:33 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident with rapid heart beat. 2:18 p.m. A South Welcome Slough Road resident said smoke was coming out of a bedroom; Puget Island fire fighters were dispatched. 3:27 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to an East Birnie Slough Road residence to aid a man with chest pain.
March 10--The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a girl with breathing trouble.
March 11--4:36 p.m. A caller reported seeing a man believed to be a convicted felon carrying a rifle into a Rosedale residence.
March 12--6:51 a.m. A caller said a fallen tree was blocking Altoona-Pillar Rock Road; the county road department was dispatched. 9:49 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a man with chest pain. 12:16 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a man having a reaction to medication. 11:11 p.m. A caller reported someone was inside a residence whose owner was out of town; a deputy responded and found it was the owner in the house.
March 13--9:13 a.m. A woman reported two people had been threatened; a deputy investigated. 9:53 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a girl having a seizure. 9:54 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman having a seizure.
March 14--2:11 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman injured in a fall at an Elochoman Valley residence. 7:51 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman having back spasms. 10:57 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported a confrontation with a young driver who had been speeding on Jacobson Road; a deputy was advised.
