What's happening at the Fair?

The Wahkiakum County Fair Board takes great pleasure in announcing we will be dedicating our 102nd Fair to Nancy Corbin. She has been notified and is thrilled. She is looking forward to spending time at the fair and visiting with her friends. There will be a write-up in the fair book about Nancy and her many years of volunteering and participating at our fair. Congratulations, Nancy!

Lori Twiet is working on the additions and corrections for our 2010 fair book. She is volunteering her time, and we on the fair board feel fortunate to have her take on this project. Thank-you, Lori!

We hope to see you this Sunday at the Wahkiakum Grade School around 12:30 p.m., for our Chicken Dumpling Dinner. Buy a few raffle tickets and listen to some fun entertainment! The Wahkiakum Fair Foundation is planning this dinner, they are a non-profit organization created to support the operation of the Wahkiakum County Fair.

On April 2, the Wahkiakum County Fair Board would like to invite you back to the JA Wendt Elementary School Multi-purpose room, for a Spaghetti Dinner. This dinner is only $4.50 a person and will be served from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Then at 6:30 p.m. Easter bingo starts! This is always a fun event with lots of interesting raffle prizes. Bingo cards are three for $10. All proceeds go to support our Wahkiakum County Fair.

Spring is almost here and lots of birds are looking for a place to nest. Jean Beerbower had an idea to help them out by locating some colorful bird houses around the fairgrounds. Do you have an extra birdhouse that you could donate to the fair, to house a few of these small birds? We would like you to give us a call if you do.

Are you interested in volunteering at the fairgrounds? We have some ongoing projects and we would welcome your help.

The next Wahkiakum County Fair Board meeting will be March 31, 7 p.m., 3rd floor courthouse meeting room. The public is always welcome to attend.

The fair office is now open by appointment only. If you need to gain access to the fairgrounds contact Becky at 795-3434. You can call 360-795-3480 and leave a message on the fairgrounds answering machine also.
