The Wahkiakum Food and Farm Network, the WSU Extension and the Master Gardeners will present their sixth annual Food and Farm Summit on March 20.
Entitled How to Grow your own Groceries, speakers will present a range of topics from pest control to garden planning.
WSU Skamania County Extension Agent Todd Murray will open the proceedings with his presentation "Organic Pest Control for Your Vegetable Garden and Small Orchard." He will be followed by Master Gardener and Secretary of the OSU Master Gardener Association in Oregon Linda Eggiman who will speak on "Planning Your Vegetable Garden and Organic Composting."
Heather Havens, Master Gardener and General Manager of Concentrates, Inc in Portland, will follow lunch with "Soil Amendments for Better Vegetable Gardening and More Productive Small Orchards," and the day will be closed by Glen Andresen with "Ready Set Go--Starting Seeds for Your Vegetable Garden." Andresen is the host of gardening show, "The Dirt Bag," on community radio station KBOO in Portland and writes a monthly gardening column for The Portland Alliance newspaper.
The event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the River Street Meeting Room in Cathlamet. Registration fee is $20 per individual or $35 per couple with walk ins welcome.
