Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
February 15--6:20 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Middle Valley man who was very ill.
February 16--5:39 a.m. Pacific County Sheriff's Office requested Wahkiakum dispatch its Search and Rescue Unit (SAR) to join in the search for evidence in the Long Beach area where a state trooper had been assaulted; the SAR was on the scene all day.
February 17--6:04 p.m. A caller reported someone in a silver Dodge pickup with an Oregon plate had backed into a sign on Cathlamet's 3rd Street and left the scene. 6:42 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported continued harassing phone calls from a Maryland address; an officer contacted police in Maryland who sent officers to the caller's address.
February 18--8:58 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet man injured in a fall. 11:38 a.m. A caller said young people were throwing things and milling around at the intersection of Angle and South Second streets in Cathlamet; no one was there when an officer arrived. 11:38 a.m. A caller reported stolen all terrain vehicles were in Wahkiakum County. 5:06 p.m. A person reported people were throwing things from a vehicle on SR 4 six miles east of Cathlamet; an officer stopped the vehicle and made an arrest for violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act. 6:52 p.m. A caller reported seeing two suspicious automobiles on a road leading to an active logging site on KM Mountain. 7:53 p.m. A caller reported a person had violated a protection order.
February 19--7:09 p.m. A North Welcome Slough Road resident reported that people had seen a teen-age boy prowling around a residence and chased him away. 7:22 p.m. A caller reported a leak in a water main along Columbia Street; the town maintenance crew was notified.
February 20--2:02 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a foster child was running away. 5:42 p.m. A caller said a skiff with two people aboard was stuck downstream of the Puget Island bridge; the Coast Guard Auxiliary responded, but the boat was gone when the Auxiliary's craft arrived. 7:51 p.m. A caller reported encountering a man walking around Middle Valley trying to find people in the Grays River Valley; the man was gone when an officer arrived.
February 21--2:38 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a man with chest pain. 10:19 a.m. A caller said four horses were being neglected at a Puget Island farm; friends of the owner later took the animals to a Longview farm. 12:59 p.m. A caller said people weren't feeding cattle at a Puget Island farm. 4:18 p.m. A Greenwood Hill man reported some sort of ordnance had fallen into his yard in the night; an officer investigated. 6:27 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported someone had left a 15-feet-wide pile of brush burning on western Little Island; the Puget Island Fire Department was dispatched. 6:45 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale woman with breathing trouble. 7:12 p.m. A motorist reported a man dressed in black was walking on SR 409 at the Puget Island bridge.
