The Wahkiakum Lady Mules opened district basketball tournament play with a 51-42 win over the White Pass Panthers on Monday.
The game was tied 25-25 at halftime, and the Mules led 37-36 at the end of the third quarter. They outscored the Panthers 14-6 in the fourth quarter to pull out the win.
Halie Boyce led the Mule scoring with 14 points. Jordyn Wirkkala had 12, Evelyn Clark eight, Brianne Helms five, Brieanna Olsen three, Shelby Felton and Rebecka Patching two each, and Blaine Land one.
Clark had 12 rebounds, Wirkkala and Ashley Helms 11 each, and Boyce six. Clark had four steals, and A. Helms had three.
The Mules take on Raymond in the district quarterfinals at 8 p.m. this evening (Thursday) in Montesano.
The winner of that game advances to the semifinals next Wednesday, 8 p.m., in Chehalis.
The loser of tonight's game plays Saturday at a time and site to be determined. The Eagle will post it on its website, http://www.waheagle.com, as soon as the information is available.
