What's Happening at the Fair?

Last week-end was the Fair Board's third annual Valentine Dinner. We would like to say “Thank-You” to the many people that attended, and to the volunteers of our community that helped put this fund raiser together. To Commissioner Blair Brady a special thank you for all the hours that you volunteered!

The site of our dinner was the Skamokawa Grange and it was decorated top to bottom and front to back with Valentine’s day décor. Kathleen Peterson charmed everyone with her piano playing during the dinner. Then Rick Nelson stepped on stage and preformed three lively “Spanish Flamenco” guitar songs. Then to finish the entertainment we had Jerry Ledtke, Bruce Satterlund, Christine Payne-Towler, and Michael Dowers up on the stage. Their music was lively and most songs were known by everyone, which started crowd participation. Lots of clapping, singing-a-long, foot stomping and best of all smiles everywhere. Thank-you entertainers!!

The raffle drawing's first ticket winner was Joan Wren and she picked for her prize a “Malachite Necklace set” made by yours truly. Thank-you to Lisa Frink for donating Scentsy products, Sharin for donating a handmade craft, Mike Clark for donating the salmon gift box and the fair board for providing two diamond necklaces to use as raffle prizes.

We look forward to serving you dinner next year and encourage you to invite your friends and neighbors! All proceeds from the dinner will benefit the fair.

Ginger and Stewart Moonen were the winners of the fair theme last month with their entry of “Blue Jeans and Country Dreams.” At the last fair board meeting they donated their $25 prize back to the fair. Thank-you Ginger and Stewart!

The next Wahkiakum County Fair board meeting is March 10 at 7 p.m., in the third floor meeting room of the courthouse. The public is always welcome to attend.
