GOP looking for grassroots activists

The Wahkiakum Republican Party is inviting grassroots activists to attend their upcoming precinct caucuses to discuss issues in the local community, state and country.

"The precinct caucuses are the first step towards turning all of the grassroots energy we've seen in the past year into effective political action," said Wahkiakum's Republican Party Chairman Richard Riley.

At the precinct caucuses, delegates are elected to county conventions. From there, each county elects delegates to the state convention, where the state party's platform is drafted for 2010.

The state convention will be held in Vancouver on June 10-12 with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney as the keynote speaker and conservative blogger Michelle Malkin as the banquet speaker. The state convention agenda is forthcoming and will be posted online at http://www.wsrp.org.

The precinct caucus will be held on February 13 at 10 a.m. in the River Street Meeting Room in Cathlamet. For more information, contact Riley at 360-562-6586.
