Sheriff’s Report - February 2, 2010

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

January 25--6:01 p.m. Skamokawa fire men responded to a chimney fire at a Maki Road residence. 8:39 p.m. A caller reported a possible theft of a gun loaned to a friend.

January 26--9:45 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a 15-year-old teenager had run away. 11:13 a.m. A caller reported someone had vandalized picnic tables in the Cathlamet park. 11:58 a.m. A Bradley Mountain resident reported attempted fraud by a telephone solicitor.

January 27--11:15 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman having a seizure. 4:32 p.m. A deputy responded to assist a state Fish and Wildlife agent with a drug arrest.

January 28--2:27 p.m. A Deep River resident reported someone had been stealing things from his property. 3:48 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet area man who was very weak. 6:49 p.m. A Westend resident reported a woman with a knife was threatening to hurt herself; the county Mental Health Department was notified. 7:24 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman having chest pain.

January 29--4:14 p.m. A Westend resident reported someone had stolen hay and fuel and gone through personal belongings. 5:16 p.m. Elochoman Valley residents reported a cow elk with an injured leg was stuck in a bog and neighbors would dispatch it if a deputy or fish and wildlife agent were unavailable. 10:12 p.m. A caller reported a person was driving illegally; officers stopped a vehicle and arrested one person on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

January 30--1:11 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a woman injured in a fall two days earlier. 10:57 a.m. Grays River firemen responded to talk to a person who was illegally burning fireworks and other products that were causing lots of black smoke. 5:54 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a teen age boy had run away; at 8:13 p.m. a Cathlamet resident said another boy had run away with the first; they were contacted between Cathlamet and Longview.

January 31--1:53 a.m. A woman reported an intoxicated man had gone out of control; officers responded. 9:09 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported hearing many shots from Ryan's Island and wondered if duck hunters were exceeding possession limits; state Fish and Wildlife was notified. 10:47 a.m. A Skamokawa resident reported a man had killed a goose near Vista Park; a fish and wildlife agent was notified. 2:05 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported an injured bull elk was roaming around a residential area; an agent was notified.
