Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
January 18--12:09 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported a theft. 3:58 p.m. Deputies and state troopers teamed in a pursuit of a person on a dirt bike doing over 100 mph on Shannon Road. 8:39 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an Island View Lane resident with irregular heart beat.
January 19--5:55 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported someone was loading wood stacked at a vacant house. 5:17 p.m. A man reported being harassed. 9:34 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a man with heart trouble. 11:12 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an East Sunny Sands man with breathing trouble.
January 20--6:44 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a Salme Road woman with breathing trouble. 8:29 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid person having an allergic reaction from the Cathlamet clinic to a hospital. 6:03 p.m. A caller reported seeing a small fire in a Skamokawa area residence; a Skamokawa fireman was notified and investigated. 6:18 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Skamokawa man with a burn on his hand.
January 21--1:43 p.m. A caller said a vehicle had become high centered on a retaining wall between City Hall and the Cathlamet Market; a tow truck was dispatched. 8:04 p.m. A Cathlamet resident was arrested on a Department of Corrections warrant.
January 22--11:39 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Little Island woman possibly having a stroke. 12:08 p.m. A caller requested help in providing food for around 80 cats at a Loop Road residence; emergency catfood was obtained from a food bank, but a cat rescue shelter said it was already overwhelmed and couldn't handle more animals. 1:28 p.m. A caller said it appeared that a mule and two horses at a Skamokawa area residence weren't properly nourished.
January 23--5:47 a.m. A caller reported someone had run into the gate at Greenwood Cemetery, bending support poles. 8:46 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to Wahkiakum High School to aid a youth who injured a leg playing basketball. 11:11 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an East Birnie Slough Road resident possibly having a heart attack.
January 24--6:58 a.m. A West Birnie Slough Road resident reported someone had trespassed to steal sand. 8:49 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet man who was injured in a fall. 10:59 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Messinger Hill woman with chest pain. 4:59 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported a theft of medication. 4:36 p.m. Officers responded to a 9-1-1 hangup call at a Westend home and arrested a juvenile male on domestic violence charges. 10:48 p.m. A caller said people on four-wheelers tearing up the ground were trespassing on land in Rosedale.

State versus Travis C. Bryant, 23: The defendant pled guilty to charges of possession of stolen property (guns) and unlawful hunting of big game in the second degree. The state charged that he and three other young men pursued elk along Fossil Creek Road last March and shot them with stolen guns. He was ordered to serve 365 days in jail, with 341 suspended, and to pay a $500 fine, $230 court costs, $2,000 civil penalty and the cost of his public defender.
State versus Derek Nelson Kelley 32: The defendant pled guilty to a charge of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol last February. He was ordered to serve four months in jail, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and to pay a $500 Crime Victim Assessment, $230 costs, $1,546 DUI fine, $100 DNA collection fee, $1,000 other fines or costs, and the cost of his public defender.
A 15-year-old juvenile male was charged with rape in the third degree in a January 12 incident; a trial was set for March 22.
A 16-year-old juvenile male was charged with first degree harassment/domestic violence; fourth degree assault, and interference with reporting domestic violence in a January 24 incident. Arraignment will occur February 1.
