By now you have probably received the flyer from the Naselle-Grays River Valley School District asking for your support for the replacement maintenance and operations levy. Other news from the Westend:

Johnson Park has a beautiful new 49 cu ft commercial refrigerator in its kitchen, and it is even made in the USA. Now if we can just find the triple sink that we need, we should be good to go with our commercial kitchen. At least, that’s the plan. If anyone can help us out, please contact me.

Besides all the activities I mentioned last week that are ongoing at Johnson Park, the TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) group meets on Wednesday mornings at 9 a.m. in the exercise room at the park. A great way to shed a few unwanted pounds after the holidays as well as a super bunch of ladies as a support group.

Oh yes, I made a mistake in last week’s article, when I said that Scott Braman was the yoga instructor, when in fact it is his brother Jack Braman. Sorry about that, Jack. He does a super job with the group.

The Rosburg Community Club meets on Thursday (tonight) in the Rosburg Hall at 7 p.m. The public is invited to join with the group and learn a little bit about what they do for our community.

Looks like at least eight new baby lambs at Scott’s Country Barn on Altoona/Pillar Rock Road. One of the ewes gave birth to triplets. I understand they are really cute and cuddly. Photo next week, if I can get to it.

The Wednesday Senior Lunch Bunch that meets at the Rosburg Hall will feast on home made lasagna, green salad, garlic bread and dessert on the 27th. Enjoy lunch with your local friends and neighbors.

The Rosburg Senior Community Lunch group, sponsored by CAP also meets on Tuesday and Thursday at the Rosburg Hall. Menus for the following week include: Thursday, the 21st: chicken divan, pasta primavera, fruit salad and cookies; Thursday, the 26th: tortellini sausage baked with spinach, Caesar salad, and jellyroll; Thursday, the 28th; pork ribs, hoppin’ John, coleslaw with pineapple, peas and cauliflower and apricot bars.

Birthdays coming up this week include: Kevin Leaf on the 21st; Stephanie Gudmundsen, David Leeland, Dorina Fithen, Bobbie Jo Faddis, Rose See and James Henry on the 22nd; Alan Gatens and Amber Eaton on the 23rd; Rita Rafferty, Sheldon Warden, Michelle Wirkkala and Sarah Dotson on the 24th; Monte Givens on the 25th; Andrea Kay Smith, Esther Gregg and Jill Keller on the 26th; Paty Rose and Caitlin McGuire on the 27th.

Happy Anniversary to Duane and Judy Kent on the 21st.

On a more personal note, I want to wish my sister, Diane, a very special happy birthday. This is the first time I have been able to celebrate her day with her in a very long time. It is so wonderful to have her here, to finally get to really know her, to become the friends we always seemed to miss out on, and to just enjoy being together. Just to let you know, Diane, you have given me a very special gift by being here. Happy birthday, and happy future.
