Sheriff's Report - January 21, 2010

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

January 11--12:53 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to a Seal River Road residence to aid a woman with abdominal pain. 12:24 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to a woman with pain in an arm. 1:24 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet woman who was very ill.

January 12--10:22 a.m. A Grays River resident reported attempted fraud over by a telephone solicitor. 4:07 p.m. A Deep River resident reported being harassed by a telephone solicitor. 5:56 p.m. A caller reported a child was making suicidal comments; an officer made contact. 6 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported noise from a nearby residence was disturbing. 6:34 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a girl had been sexually assaulted; an officer investigated. 6:35 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a man with abdominal pain.

January 12--11:44 a.m. A caller said a woman who had been parked all night at the Rosburg Store and was causing a disturbance. 5:27 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to an Elochoman Valley residence to aid an infant who was choking; the blockage was removed.

January14--5:16 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident with abdominal pain. 5:41 p.m. A motorist said a person created a traffic hazard by jumping out of trees along SR 409 and trying to hitchhike. 6:22 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident experiencing chest pain.

January 15--2:28 a.m. An East Valley resident reported seeing an injured elk with an injured rear leg lying two days in a field; the state Department of Fish and Wildlife was notified. 3:50 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an Elochoman Valley resident who had taken an overdose of drugs. 7:24 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported being harassed. 9:42, 10:17 p.m. Cathlamet area residents complained that people were causing disturbances with their music and their driving. 10:59 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported hearing 12 or more gunshots near the upper fish hatchery; three deputies responded to aid the Fish and Wildlife agent; Deputy Bill Tawater encountered a pickup on hatchery grounds; a woman accompanied by three men ages 20-22 dressed in camouflage and armed with rifles were in the truck; in the back of the truck were two dead raccoons and deer that was almost dead; the deer was dispatched; Tawater cited one of the men for illegal possession of alcohol by a minor; the fish and game agent was working on game law charges this week.

January 16--1:06 a.m. A caller said fallen rock had closed SR 4 near County Line Park and several vehicles were parked; the state Department of Transportation was notified. 12:05 p.m. A Rosedale resident said a boy and girl, approximately 10-13 years old, were going through mailboxes; they were gone when an officer arrived. 12:54 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a man who had collapsed. 5:28 p.m. A caller reported a person was assaulting a woman in Skamokawa; a deputy responded.

January 17--3:57 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Puget Island resident with breathing trouble.

January 18--12:30 a.m. West Valley resident reported power outages; Wahkiakum PUD responded. 1:08 a.m. A caller said a tree had fallen across power lines along SR 4 near the passing lanes at Milepost 42; the PUD was notified.
