Sheriff’s Report - December 31, 2009

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past two weeks, including:

December 14--9:24 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance and firemen from Cathlamet and Skamokawa responded to a location just east of Skamokawa where a vehicle had run off SR 4 into a slough. 10:04 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an Elochoman Valley woman with kidney pain. 10:18 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an Elochoman Valley man possibly having a stroke; Life Flight was activated.

December 15--2:34 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet woman who was very ill. 10:13 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported someone had stolen jewelry; an officer investigated, and the situation was resolved by the parties getting together.

December 16--12:18 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an Elochoman Valley woman who was ill and in pain. 2 a.m. A caller reported possible illegal drug activity. 4:40 p.m. Officers and the Grays River ambulance responded to a location on SR 4 east of Grays River where a vehicle had run off the highway; the driver refused transport. 5:33 p.m. A Westend resident reported possible poaching; the call was relayed to a fish and wildlife officer.

December 17--9:43 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported finding a door kicked in at a house. 11:37 a.m. A motorist reported a hit-and-run collision occurred in the Cathlamet post office parking lot. 1:24 p.m. A motorist reported rolling his vehicle on the Altoona-Pillar Rock Road; he wasn't injured. 5:55 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale woman with breathing trouble.

December 18--1:36 p.m. A person reported a possible child sexual assault. 10:01 p.m. A caller reported a possible youth drinking party at a Rosedale residence; an officer investigated and found the area quiet. 10:24 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident who was feverish and dehydrated.

December 19--12:48 a.m. A caller reported a man had stabbed another man in Skamokawa; officers and an ambulance responded; the victim was hospitalized and underwent surgery; a suspect was arrested and will be arraigned Monday. 4:06 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a man with shortness of breath. 9:01 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that someone had hacked into his bank account. 3:17 p.m. Officers and the Grays River ambulance responded to the Seal River area of SR 4 where a car had had an accident. 6:13 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a youth with a head injury.

December 20--2:08 a.m. A Rosedale resident reported being threatened by a person who was outside the residence; a deputy responded. 2:42 am. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale woman with abdominal pain. 5:47 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale youth with a high fever. 10:32 p.m. Puget Island and Cathlamet firemen and other emergency personnel responded to extinguish a fire in a car port at a Puget Island residence.

December 21--9:24 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet woman with hip pain. 2 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported a case of identity theft. 3:01 p.m. A Seal River resident reported someone had stolen a 90-gallon fuel tank. 6:15 p.m. A motorist reported several people had run into large rocks on SR 4 east of Nassa Point and a large boulder was in the road.

December 22--1:33 a.m. Ostervold Road residents reported that people on quads were running up and down the beach and creating a disturbance; an officer made contact. 7:37 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported someone had vandalized a dump truck and equipment. 10:03 a.m. A motorist reported a contractor's backhoe had collided with a car on SR 4 in Rosedale.

December 23--2:38 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a man with abdominal pain.

December 24--11:10 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a man who was very ill. 9:50 p.m. Officers and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to an accident on SR 4 near Alger Creek; no one was there when they arrived.

December 25--12:43 a.m. A caller reported a vehicle had run into a utility pole one mile east of Skamokawa along SR 4; no one was there when officers arrived. 3:53 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet woman who was very weak. 6:47 p.m. A caller reported four gunshots from the vicinity of the fairgrounds in Skamokawa.

December 27--12:47 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a domestic assault at a Cathlamet residence; a person was arrested. 1:10 a.m. A motorist reported a vehicle had run off the Elochoman Valley Road; an officer responded and found the driver was uninjured. 10:15 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman having a seizure. 11:27 a.m. A caller reported a vehicle had run off SR 409 at Holloway's Corner on Puget Island. 9:48 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet woman with chest pain.
