Mule boys start season with big non-league wins

The Wahkiakum Mule boys basketball team overwhelmed opponents in the first two games of the season.

On Tuesday, the Mules jumped to a 20-5 first quarter lead over the visiting King's Way Knights and rolled to a 91-36 win.

All 12 players who suited up scored points. Wyatt Parker led the Mule scoring with 14 points; Ty Bain had 12, Cody Olsen 10, Brad Pugh nine, Justin McClain eight, John CHambers and Troy Howard seven each, Brandon Fudge and Cole Claussen six, Lars Blix five, Ryan Helms four, and Andrew Weiler three.

Bain and McClain each had eight rebounds; Parker had seven, Pugh six and Helms five. Olsen had eight assists; Bain made six, Parker five and Claussen and Chambers four each. Parker had four steals, and Olsen three. McClain blocked two shots.

The Mules opened the season with a 90-50 win over the Columbia Adventist Kodiaks Thursday in Battle Ground.

The Mules ran to a 27-5 first quarter lead and were never challenged.

Cody Olsen led the scoring with 32 points; he had seven rebounds. John Chambers had 11, Ty Bain and Troy Howard eight each, Wyatt Parker seven, Justin McClain and Brandon Fudge six each, Cole Claussen five, Brad Pugh four, Andrew Weiler three and Ryan Helms two.
