Volunteers sought for Christmas dinner

Volunteers from member churches of the Wahkiakum Interfaith Network are looking for help in presenting their third annual free Christmas dinner.

For the past two years, WIN churches have offered the free dinner on Christmas Day. Volunteers have cooked turkey and ham with all the fixings, and served meals for several hours on Christmas afternoon.

Pastor Ben Moor of the Cathlamet Seventh-day Adventist Church is coordinating this year's dinner.

This year, the dinner will be offered in St. James Family Center, a larger venue than the past two years at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.

Instead of three seatings, there will be only two at 12 noon and 1:15 p.m.

"We will have more space in the new location," Moor said Tuesday. "We are estimating between 200-250 people. However, if things grow beyond this estimate we will try to accommodate as we are able."

The group, Moor said, is still looking for lead volunteers for some areas:

--Lead Coordinator/Organizing Committee Co-Chair, serving with Pastor Moor, in the leadership of the Christmas Dinner Committee;

--Cooks who will provide their cooking skills to the project with the help of the kitchen crew;

--Kitchen Crew Leader whose crew will work with cooks;

--Set-up/Take-down Crew Leader who will set-up and take down the tables and chairs and acquire more chairs from the various churches, as needed;

--Decorations Crew Assistant Leader;

--Host/Hostess Crew Leader; the hosts will welcome the guests and seat them;

--Serving Crew Assistant Leader, and

--Transportation Crew Leader to arrange and provide transportation for guests who do not have a way to get to the dinner.

Moor asks that people interested in volunteering should call him at (360) 430-4785.
