Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
The annual membership meeting for the Friends of Skamokawa will be held this coming Sunday at 2 p.m., at Redmen Hall in Skamokawa. One board seat will become vacant. Anyone interested in this volunteer position can find out more information by calling 360-957-3884.
The featured speaker for the meeting will be Jay Raskin, of Ecola Architects. He will present a visual show explaining the new Historic Renovation program at Clatsop Community College in Astoria. Its the first in the nation to offer formal coursework, combined with hands-on instruction in both traditional and modern construction methods. Raskin will also give an informal “grading” of the Friends of Skamokawa restoration and renovation of Redmen Hall, and answer audience questions about historically appropriate materials and techniques.
All are invited to the meeting, and to see the current exhibit, Smoke on the Waters: Skamokawa Artists. Refreshments will be provided.
