Wahkiakum Cross Country

The Wahkiakum High School Mule and Thomas Middle School Warrior cross country teams have run hard in two meets so far this season.

On September 17 at Rainier, the Mules finished seventh in team standings. Team scores were Mossyrock 53, NW Christian 83, Rainier 99, White Pass 102, Kalama 116, Ilwaco 129, Wahkiakum 134, Tenino 187, Ocosta 256, Forks 263 and Adna 292.

Senior Bradlee Pugh led the Mule runners, placing 13th in 20:01.59. Following were 19. Chris Hokkanen 20:21.09, 23. Collan Riley 20:26; 25. Connar Riley 20:42.5, and 63. Ben Miles 24:07.

In the middle school race, Tayler Nicks was second in 10:03.39.

Last Saturday, the Mules competed in the Kelso Invitational. Connar Riley finished eighth in the 2.2 mile freshman/sophomore race in 13:27.55, and Collan Riley was 12th in 13:45.46.

In the 3.0 mile varsity race, Pugh was 74th in 18:01.34, and Hokkanen was 76th in 18:03.55.

The runners compete at Onalaska today (Thursday) and head to Lacey's NW Christian on October 8.
